The manufacturer of chemical products, such as Silicates, is preparing to increase production and develop a strategy to expand its presence abroad.
Founded in 1960, the Peruvian company PROQUINSA has specialized in producing chemicals such as Sodium Silicate, Potassium Silicate, and Sodium Bicarbonate, consolidating its presence in both local and international markets.
Now, with 65 years of operations, the company is preparing to expand its plant in response to projected demand growth and to strengthen its line of proprietary brands, especially abroad.
Juan Carlos Zevallos, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, noted that the international channel represents just over 5% of its sales, but the goal is to double that share in the coming years.
Currently, the company exports to Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador, Colombia, and Honduras. Following a recent trade mission to Central America, it is now aiming to enter Guatemala and El Salvador. To strengthen its international presence, PROQUINSA will focus on proprietary brands such as Forzasil, aimed at the agricultural sector, and Nutrisil, developed for the aquaculture industry, particularly shrimp farming.
“These are the sales that are becoming more strategic for us because we want to sell value-added products. For the local market, we also have other brands that are already ready, but in the near future, exports will mainly be driven by Forzasil and Nutrisil”, he noted.
PROQUINSA operates a plant in San Juan de Lurigancho, where its Silicate production is approximately 4,000 metric tons per month. Zevallos revealed that the company is considering an expansion in 2025; however, the exact scale has yet to be defined.
“We already have a set of potential expansion plans ready. Significant new investments from other countries are expected to arrive in Peru, with new glass and detergent plants being set up. We need to determine how much we will have to expand the plant; we have analyzed several scenarios”, he said.
Upturn: The first two months of the year showed a slowdown for PROQUINSA, but since March, the company has seen an upward trend. “Our growth target is aggressive. We aim to exceed last year’s results, and we have strong prospects of achieving that,” stated Juan Carlos Zevallos during the Expo Industria.
